About Dr. Martens
Dr. Martens is a British footwear brand built on an air-cushioned sole created in 1945 by Dr. Klaus Maertens, a German soldier and doctor, who later went into production with the engineer Dr. Herbert Funck. The British shoemaker R. Griggs Group bought the rights to make the shoes in 1959, and the eight-eyelet 1460 boot takes its name from 1 April 1960. The company still runs a Made in England factory, and its shoe revenue grew 19 per cent in its 2026 financial year.
