GSK (LSE: GSK, NYSE: GSK) is a publicly listed company headquartered in London, United Kingdom that is tracked here as an owner of consumer businesses, and has 3 recorded transactions.[1]
GSK is a British pharmaceutical and vaccines company formed in 2000 by the merger of Glaxo Wellcome and SmithKline Beecham. It demerged its consumer healthcare business as Haleon in 2022, so brands such as Sensodyne, Panadol and Advil are no longer GSK products.
GSK demerged its consumer healthcare business as Haleon, listing it in London and New York in July 2022. The business already contained Pfizer's consumer health portfolio, contributed to a joint venture in 2019, which is how Advil and Centrum came to sit alongside Sensodyne and Panadol.
Perrigo bought the branded over-the-counter rights to Prevacid 24HR from GlaxoSmithKline for $61.5 million in cash, capitalising $61.7 million including closing costs as a brand intangible and amortising it over twenty years. What changed hands was the right to sell the brand over the counter rather than the underlying drug, which is how most of Perrigo's branded portfolio has been assembled.
GlaxoSmithKline sold the Lucozade and Ribena business, including the Coleford manufacturing site in Gloucestershire and related inventory, to Suntory Beverage & Food for 1,352 million pounds in cash. GSK booked a profit on disposal of 1,057 million pounds and said the brands would grow better under an owner with drinks distribution in emerging markets. Suntory put them into a new company, Lucozade Ribena Suntory, which began trading in 2014.
GSK controlled these 8 brands in the past. Each row shows when the ownership ended and who holds the brand now, so a page that once said GSK owned it still shows why it no longer does.
