About The Glenlivet

The Glenlivet was the first distillery licensed in its Speyside parish, taking out a licence in 1824 when most local production was illicit, a decision that made its founder unpopular enough that he carried pistols. So many distilleries appended the name that a court restricted its use in 1884.
