Apollo acquires Yahoo and 5 other brands (2021)
Apollo completed the acquisition of Yahoo and 5 other brands on 1 September 2021 for $5 billion.[1]
Funds managed by Apollo Global Management acquired ninety per cent of Verizon Media, comprising Yahoo and AOL and their properties, in a deal valued at about $5 billion. Verizon retained the remaining ten per cent.
Verizon had paid $4.4 billion for AOL in 2015 and $4.5 billion for Yahoo in 2017, so it sold the combined business for less than it paid for the two parts.
