Diageo acquires Casamigos (2017)
Diageo completed the acquisition of Casamigos on 21 August 2017 for $1 billion.[1]
Diageo bought Casamigos, the tequila founded by George Clooney, Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman, for $700 million up front and up to $300 million more on performance. The price for a four-year-old brand helped set off a wave of celebrity spirits deals.
The $1 billion figure is the maximum including earn-out; $700 million was payable at closing.
