PepsiCo completed the acquisition of Gatorade and 2 other brands on 2 August 2001 for $13.4 billion, buying from Quaker Oats Company.[1]
PepsiCo acquired The Quaker Oats Company in an all-stock merger, primarily to obtain Gatorade, which gave it the leading position in sports drinks. The Federal Trade Commission cleared the deal after a split vote, with a consent order restricting distribution arrangements.
