Grimbergen is a Belgian abbey beer named after Grimbergen Abbey, founded in 1128, whose community has been destroyed and rebuilt three times, which is why a phoenix appears on the label. Despite the abbey name, the Grimbergen beer trademarks in the European Union and the Benelux are registered to Carlsberg, which acquired the brand in 2008.
