About Parmalat
Parmalat pioneered long-life UHT milk in Italy and collapsed in 2003 in what was then the largest corporate fraud in European history, with €14 billion missing from its accounts. Lactalis acquired the restructured company in 2011. The fraud centred on a fabricated bank account, and its discovery led to convictions and to reform of Italian audit rules.
