About Whitman's
Whitman's Sampler, introduced in 1912, was the first box of chocolates with a printed index of the contents inside the lid, a device the whole category copied. Lindt acquired the brand with Russell Stover in 2014. The cross-stitch pattern on the box is drawn from a sampler, the embroidery exercise the name refers to.
