About Caffarel
Caffarel is a Turin chocolatier founded in 1826 and credited with creating the gianduiotto, the hazelnut and chocolate ingot that emerged when cocoa was scarce under the Napoleonic blockade. Lindt acquired the company in 1997. The hazelnut and chocolate combination it pioneered is the same one that later made Ferrero's Nutella a global product.
